Afternoon snack for teachers in a Japanese school
Graduation
Sigh…
To see the ninth graders leave for High School can be sad, but it seems to happen so naturally that no one seems to regret it, or be afraid of it, or even wonder why it happens.
In Japan everything has to be well organized and presented. Everyone should look as if they are working during working hours.
I watch a teacher sweep a small room for 40 minutes. Going over the same place over and over.
Another one sat on a chair thinking, and I thought “Ah, someone who knows what’s going on, and decided to take a break! Good for you sir!” The man then stood up, moved the chair two feet back and sat on it to think again. To think about whether this was a good position for the chair.
The lady kept sweeping, he kept thinking… I kept objecting.
After this week a new school year will begin in Japan

One day I will get used to kids showing me the weird bugs they find :D
Chocolate koalas, green islands.
I got to visit a kindergarten today and watch in amazement as the tiny kids served themselves soup and organized their lunch so that the rice was on the left, the dessert on top.
Ninjas in training.
There was a beach that I always wanted to check out on the way to one of my schools. Here’s one of the things we found.
The beach was empty, but I like to imagine that great adventures began here a long time ago, back when there were more people in the island.
